K-will Adds 720p Format To Picture Quality Analyzer Line
Torrance, Calif. — January 05, 2006 — K-WILL Corporation, a company pioneering the objective measurement of digital video and audio quality, has unveiled the VP21P video quality evaluation system. K-WILL’s newest offering joins the firm’s growing line of VP21 products.
The VP21P was designed to analyze the 720p HD format -- resolutions of 1280 x 720 pixels in progressive scan -- on a fully automated and real-time basis. K-WILL’s VP21P utilizes a powerful double-stimulus video quality evaluation system that performs detailed, pixel-by-pixel measurement and comparison of a reference and copy videos. The new VP21P ensures video quality for broadcasters, network operators, cable TV companies, production companies as well as equipment manufacturers and can be used in the production, post-production and broadcast/transmission stages of the video lifecycle.
The system has a variety of functions including: debugging encoder/decoder operations, quality evaluation of broadcast systems, automatic dubbing, DVD authoring and DVD playback. The double stimulus technique used in the VP21P was specified for in the ITU J.144.
“The VP21P gives broadcast engineers the ability to objectively monitor their video with a forensic view at the pixel level in real-time,” said Dr. Takahiro Hamada, president and CEO, K-WILL. “Broadcast engineers have the time they need to correct problems and produce consistent results because our VP21P immediately detects differences in signal quality.”
