K-Will's Double Stimulus Video Quality Evaluation Technology Recommended by ITU For J.144

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- March 23, 2005 — Double-stimulus video quality measurement techniques developed by K-WILL Corporation, a leading provider of professional evaluation and measurement equipment for video and audio quality, have recently been evaluated and recommended by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). “ K-WILL's” system meets all the requirements for J.144, the ITU ratified standards recommendation on objective perceptual video quality measurement techniques for digital cable television in the presence of a full reference.

K-WILL's VP21S and VP21H are powerful double-stimulus video quality evaluation systems that perform detailed measurement and comparison of a reference and copy videos on a real-time and fully automated basis. The K-WILL test and measurement systems offer unique pixel-by-pixel comparison and provide more than 150,000 real-time measurements on each field of video.

The ITU used the organization’s Double Stimulus Continuous Quality Scale to test K-WILL's products. ITU J.144 refers to the “ K-WILL” products (VP21S and VP21H) as commercially available systems that meet user requirements for comparing a source and copy videos and measuring the video quality differences between the two signals.

“We are very excited that the ITU has noticed our ability to live up to their strict standards for measurement techniques,” Dr. Takahiro Hamada, president and CEO, K-WILL, said. “Our core technology is based on a patented method, and we are continually developing new products for this segment of the market.”

Industry recognition for the company’s technology is not new to K-WILL. At NAB 2004, K-WILL was awarded the “Editor’s Pick of Show” from Digital TV Magazine for the company’s TSI-2000. In 2000, K-WILL received an Emmy for outstanding achievement in broadcast engineering development as well as the Nikkei BP Technology Award in Japan.

K-WILL will be exhibiting in booth C8941 at NAB 2005.
